Brilliant hidden gem in the west mainland of Orkney. They tour is conducted by incredibly knowledgeable people and they’re more than happy to show you the machinery in operation where possible. In addition to this they also sell a few products made with the bere produced.

Went on a fantastic tour of the Barony Mill in 2018 with a wonderful enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide loved the flour so was very pleased to see you can now get it online.Ordered some beremeal flour and it was delivered to Yorkshire in less than a week .Excellent all round .If and when you go to Orkney pay them a visit and if you can't get there order some flour it makes beautiful shortbread !

I recently purchased a bag of the beremeal and I can assure you that it tastes delicious in a bannock or, scone recipe. Very efficient postage and so easy to use their website. Let's keep these traditions going.

A really interesting place. A knowledgeable tour guide had my 5 and 6 year old fascinated, especially when they had the chance to start and stop the water wheel and test out some of the other mechanisms. Would definitely go back again if we were in the area.

Excellent! We were given a tour by a friendly gentleman and our three kids had a great time learning about the operation of the mill and even got to start it! Afterwards we sampled and purchased some of the baked goods.

We loved our visit here. A wonderful working watermill, the ingenuity of how it all works is amazing. Our guide Ellen knew her stuff and was friendly and engaging and the millar was great fun. If you are on the Orkney mainland put this on your list of things to do, it's free but it's so good you will want to buy bere cakes and leave a good donation to make sure it remains a feature.
