Love this museum. It was mr first time visiting. Stunning pieces of art dating from ancient to modern oscillating from European to Far and south East Asia. Enjoyed traveling back in time and taking in the beauty of all the genres. Museum is huge but we managed to get through it in about 2-3 hours. Some of the gallery rooms were so magical and magnificent. Love love love. Again another free way of getting cultured. However if there is a special exhibition or exclusive exhibition, you will need to pay for those. Felt like the V&A! Definitely recommend it.

We were finally able to come to the Ashmolean Museum to see their exhibition on "Young Rembrant". Due to Covid 19 restrictions a timed booking was required and very strict restrictions inside. There is just so much to see in this amazing museum that even after 3 hours we did not see everything. The exhibition was a treat and great to see so many painting and other items lent from Holland and the Royal Collection Trust.

A fascinating museum with some very impressive artifacts that I really wasn't expecting for a museum of this size. Reminds me of the British Museum but without the daunting scale so you can spend a couple of hours being thoroughly engrossed without feeling knackered at the end. The next exhibit was always beckoning from the corner of my eye. I was like a kid in a toy shop.

The time slot tickets are free (but you can make a donation). And there's not a crowd so you can really enjoy and take your time. There's stuff from 5,000 years ago to twentieth century art. We we really enjoyed it. And the shop is good too.

Oxford and Cambridge are both have great museums, the collections are difficult to tell who is better. And it is no meaning to tell who will win. I would say, I love both. But obviousely, at Ashmolean, you can get closer to exhibition, and enjoy more of the details.

If you want to immerse yourself in ancient culture then this place will provide you with the necessary fix. Spread over Five Levels it includes Antiquities and Treasures from many countries of the ancient world. There is plenty of written I formation accompanying the exhibits, but the museum has also made good use of QR codes so you can scan on your phone and read more if you wish. On Levels 2 and 3 there is also a fine collection of European paintings. The galleries include Italian Renaissance Art as well as 19th Century European art works. Alot of paintings by Pissarro, and a beautiful Renoir "A Garden in Monmatre". Also look out for the Anthony Van Dyck "Portrait of a Woman" which is on loan to the museum. Some of the stone statues and carvings gathered from countries like Greece and Egypt are thousands of years old. There is a Caffe, Shop and Toilets on the lower ground floor. Easy to spend at least two hours here. My photos aim to give a broad view and flavour of the different exhibition areas in this museum.
