'Mountain' railway sounds impresive, but the start and destination are both on the same level so it's just a flat ride. Nothing much to see at the destination unless you want to wait for the next train as there isn't any time to go anywhere. There's not a lot to see along the way either as one side is an embankment and the main view is mostly blocked by trees. Make sure you get a seat platform-side as this will get you a better view, or be bold and stand on the balconies either end of the carriages out in the open. I found this quite a pleasant way to travel as the weather was nice. The brief stop on the way back has a small cafe set inside a railway carriage type building. It's a bit cramped and they'll be long queues. Get a cup of tea, or use the loo. Pick one. There's no time to do both before being herded back onto the train. And when you get back, be prepared to fight your way through the crowd of people waiting to get on. All this sounds like I had a horrible time, but I didn't, it was OK. Just not great.

Brilliant for family and dog friendly. Great views and chance to ride on steam train. We have our baby girl with us and she love it. Good value for money

Wonderful stream train. Looks brand new!! Probably is. Nice stops for a walk. We walked to the village for lunch. Bring your own food as the cafe in the middle had sold out. The museum may be small but the items in there are in great condition and very unusual little engines.

Really nice railway. Trip depends on the offer of the day. When I went out it was a steam train with some nice carriages. You are allowed to stand on the connection sections and feel the breeze. Spectacular view of the reservoir. Great day out. Good job guys.

Lovely views whilst travelling on the train; if you like water, trees and mountains. HOWEVER, expensive for what it is; we were told by staff they had models of train sets - they should have said model - singular - because they had just one model which took about one minute, if that, to complete the full run of the track. All staff seemed unhappy. They have a workshop, but no access given. Cafe food was burnt. Some picnic tablets on the opposite side to the platform. The platform is narrow which is more noticeable when boarding; with people coming off the train clashing with those wishing to board; no organisation from staff. During the journey, which was VERY short in itself, we stopped off at a train museum; it was VERY small. The member of staff who stood by the entrance to this museum did not inform anyone of the history of the items/small trains that were inside. As for the train we rode in, well if you have piles, take a cushion; the seats are wooden slats. Thankfully the wood was smooth! So much more could have been done to make this experience one to remember for the right reasons. We will not be returning.
