My visit was before the opening of the new visitor centre, but it was still an excellent day out.

Been going here since I was a boy Every time I’m in Pitlochry have to go for a look
Nice place to visit - come at the right time of year and you'll see loads of salmon swimming up the purpose-built salmon ladder.
Very interesting structure. It is impressive to see the engineering that has gone into this dam with its salmon stairway which allows the salmon to swim up stream to lay their eggs. Unfortunately there was no tour inside the dam hence the 4 stars
A nice piece of history which comes with the bonus of a lovely walk in the woods.
Been here a few times. interesting to peer into the inner workings inside the damn, interesting information boards and when there are fish in the fish ladder quite interesting. Sadly access to walk accross the dam has been closed off entirly for the forseeable future, I presume because of Covid somhow though I can't quite work out why even the outside bits are closed off. I assume it a legal liability thing.
This Dam is very close to Pitlochry. Nice building with very interestring salmon ladders. Entry is free. There you can see ladders live, but you must be lucky if you want to see salmons :-D This is really very nice and quiet place (but sometimes are there too many tourists). Perfect view too. By the Dam is Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre where is short movie about Dam and some models of Dam.
Always been good to go and see the salmon ladder on the dam as this is quite an unusual feature. If you go during April to August it is the peak time for seeing salmon. You can also walk right across the dam and look down into the turbine hall. The new visitor centre has definitely turned this into an attraction worth visiting
