I lived in the USAF housing. There was a RAF Canberra on static display directly in front of my house. There was a small convenience store there also. That was in the late 70s.

RAF Upward is now closed and is due for redevelopment. This RAF Station from 1944-1945 used pathfinder squadrons to aid heavy bombers by marking targets in advance of raids and the common aircraft used would have been Mosquitos. There is a small granite memorial outside one of the main gates. It would be good for this memorial to remain at this site. Nene Valley Gliding Club still uses part of the old grass runway at the end of this base, just passed the hangars (which are now fenced off).
A nice little place to explore, It's a giant site with alot of history. Beautiful decayed buildings. I even managed to climb up both towers. Defo recommend this site to anyone into urbex. Check out my Instagram @SUS.Exploration for photos and vids.
Great to explore and climb the watchtower
Very sad what the clinic has come to and the whole base. Is the glider club still there? Was stationed there in 88 to 89.
