We had been looking for a public toilet for half an hour in the town of Bowness-on-Windermere. Unfortunately, all the signposts directed us to a public toilet that was locked shut. Shaking our heads in disbelief, we went back to the car and drove to the next nearest one which we are writing our review for. The joy of finding toilets that were not shut turned quickly to outrage as we read the entrance fee to be a whopping 50p. The quality of the experience did not live up to the hefty price. The smell that lingered around the stalls was less than fresh, there was loo paper but one had to grab about ten sheets individually. A sink existed outside the barriers but was made for someone who was significantly under 4ft. The only reason we are happy to give this two stars is that it was open, and that you could pay the charge through contactless, thereby lowering the COVID risks. Whoever thought a charge this high is appropriate should be removed from their council position.
