One of the better bothys, a great view over the lake. Getting here can be tricky the marked footpath is through marshland unless you have wellies you will get wet feet. I guess people take a higher route that isnt marked like the sheep trials. We pitched tents on the tiniest bit of flat ground as the bothy was shut due to covid (although unlocked) also found the field mouse making its home here.

Great little Bothy with rich history too. Large size with a good stove and nice location which is slightly sheltered by the wind. Would easily sleep 8 people. It has a loo too if you’re caught short. Good Bothy if you’re bribing children or people less familiar with a Bothy as it’s a little nicer than some. Walking time to the Bothy is about 1:30 and is relatively straight forward following along the edge of the reservoir. The Bothy itself started life as a shepherds home, with 5 rooms and it remained in use for over 100 years until the point it came into disrepair. The site was gifted the the Mountain Bothy association where they renovated it into the great Bothy it is today. Some cracking pictures of the renovation are to be found in the Bothy book.
Awesome place. Stunning scenery.
Absolutely beautiful
Lovely cosy Bothy, great toilet facilities and fire place.
This is a great bothy, I found it tricky to find in the dark (poor gps waypoint). set in a beautiful location in the Elan Valley. There are many Red Kites to see.
Excellent sized bothy with raised beds
