From humble beginnings this magnificent abbey grew to be wealthy and powerful. In Porter’s Lodge uncover the story of the devout monks who founded the abbey in search of a simpler life, hear a tale or two on a free guided tour and see the mill created by these skilful masters of machinery.

Great place - loads of space and loads of places to explore with the nippers. Spent a good few hours here even though the temperature was baltic!

Fantastic National Trust maintained historical site. The scale of the ruins are incredible, hard to imagine they started with such humble beginnings. Footpath from the car park isn't too far and succeeds in keeping the eveal\ until the last moment. There are a series of play areas for children on the way and are nicely in keeping with the site as a whole. Worth setting aside a good half day and take in the Royal water gardens as well. Pack a picnic and if the weather is good along with the deer park this makes for a perfect family day out.

Amazing place to visit on a sunny day! The Abbey itself is very impressive and interesting to wander around, but the gardens and Studley Royal are beautiful and absolutely massive. You can spend a whole day wandering around and exploring. Well worth the entry fee for a good family day out. If the weather is good, take a picnic with you - definitely the best strategy under the current circumstances.

Very well organised location with plenty to see and do. Lots of nice picnic tables and other picnic spots. Good sized car park. Some very helpful guides around to answer all of your questions. You could easily spend a whole day here and get the kids truly tired out. Would go back.
