On our last day in St Bees having spent a lovely sunshine week in several caravans near the beach front with various family groups we arranged a morning visit to Peter and his railway museum! As recommended we had made a prior arrangement with the Peter or our appintment, as it is not open all the time. The museum is quite 'unique' in it's layout and something you probably won't experience anywhere else. The history, the collection pieces, the artefact's and general railway memorabilia (Cumbrian railway history!) are truly wonderful and the collection (still growing) is something to be rightly proud of. Peter has been a good friend for many years and so I had a rounded inkling of what to expect but the tour and the information, the stories, the historical update and Peter's enormous enthusiasm takes you away on an amazing journey. A very well worth experience, I learned so much more. Thank you most kindly, Peter.

On a grey drizzly day we drove from newby bridge to St Bees near whitehaven to visit the railway museum. We had made a prior arrangement with the owner, Peter, as it is not open all the time. What a wonderful collection, and Peter's enthusiasm takes you on an amazing journey through railway history. Fabulous afternoon. Thank you Peter.
Excellent examples of British Engineering.
