Scaling Dam is a lovely place for families - sailing, open water swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, walking, fishing and more. There's a small shop selling ice creams and drinks and a club house with a bar which holds social events. Membership is very cheap for the year and allows for a simple non-smoking membership, which is cheaper and will save money on parking charges. There is a path all the way around the dam which takes in all sorts of flora, through woodland, alongside the dam wall, through picnic areas, up on moorland. It can get a bit boggy in places around the edges of the moor but it's worth it for the views and fresh air.

Excellent group spirit and friendliness at Scaling Dam Watersports club - they now have kayak, SUP and open water swimming groups at the club in addition to the various sailing groups. Plus various other social aspects, all of which are inclusive and family friendly.
