As a former carer, I can only say that the system of abuse towards the carer, has to stop. This team as it was then, with, Seema Pillai, as the area coordinator and Hema Arul, as manager, used to delight in the clients abusing us. They did nothing about my being attacked physically by a client, but blamed me instead for being scared and forgetting to put on the pad for the client. They did nothing even laughing when I complained about being threatened by another long-term client. I was told by other carers that clients abusing us was normal. This agency cut down on my clients when their children threatened me on a couple of occasions. And they gave me only two days off in 4 months. They even complained when I resigned. They just sat there trying to look important, giving no support to the carers. They did nothing about other carers having a problem with me. The 24 hour helpline is very spiteful too. They don’t like it if you are having problems keeping on top of the workload because you ‘look bad.’ Sevacare doesn’t like it if you have a back problem or other illness. They just pile on the work. They operate a slavery racket. Us carers are their slaves. If you are white, you are treated better. Sevacare agency staff have terrible mental health problems.
