A large, pale granite obelisk in Weston Park, topped with a bronze statue of Victory and two more bronze statues of early 20th century soldiers, this war memorial stands as a poignant reminder of the tragic impact of world events, commemorating the severe losses of this northern regiment, which included many Pals battalions, during in the First World War and subsequent regimental losses during the Second World War. The York and Lancaster Regiment has since been disbanded but each year there is a Remembrance parade from the Sheffield University Officer Training Corp and a small company of 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
