Two weeks ago whilst on holiday in the area I called in at Joseph Hayes Opticians in extreme discomfort having got some grit in one of my eyes earlier that afternoon. Despite the lateness of the day, plus the fact it was shortly before closing time and I was not registered at his practice, Mr Hayes was only too happy to take a look at short notice. Very happy to have found them before I resigned myself to a long wait in A&E after both Specsavers and Boots the Optician had refused to help me.

I always think the mark of good service is not how things go when everything is okay but how they go when there are problems. The frames of my glasses broke yesterday evening so I went into the shop this morning. It's going to take a couple of weeks to replace them, but they had my lenses in an identical frame of a different colour within about 10 minutes and I was good to go again. Now that is pretty good service.

I've lived in Shrewsbury for years and have had experience of many of the town's opticians. None of them are bad, but I can honestly say that Joseph Hayes are (in my opinion) far and away the best, when it comes to 'going the extra mile' to help their customers. Their optometrist is extremely skilled and will sometimes make suggestions that simply don't seem to occur to others. The results can be spectacular, with improvements in vision that make a real difference to the 'patient's' quality of life. In the case of my daughter, prescribing spectacles to be worn occasionally, in conjunction with her existing lenses made the difference between her being able to pass the vision part of a driving test, rather than failing it You could not wish to meet more helpful, professional and friendly people than the staff you will find in Joseph Hayes - highly recommended!
