If you are into museums then you will need to visit. This one is all about one of the Somerset coalfields (which I believe was where Mr. Eavis (he's still alive), (Glastonbury Farmer and founder of the Glastonbury festival) once worked. Very interesting, (even a mock coalfield). Enjoy, there is a cafe and kids will love it. Also I believe (or you did when I went you buy a ticket and you can use throughout the year. Enjoy your visit.

A wonderful insight to living in a Coal Mining community. I went because my Great x 3 Grandfather, and his family were Miners in Radstock and all lived there too. So it was a personal journey back in time for me. Run by excellent volunteers, the place is a mine (excuse the pun) of information on that period. Will go again for sure. And your ticket is valid for a year..... How good is that, you can go as many times as you wish. It has been called a little gem, and it most certainly is.

My first visit to Radstock and to meeting my cousins for the first time ever. They showed me around the museum which I found very impressive indeed. As a city dweller this was a real eye opener for me to understand the hard life experienced by my relatives. I would have liked more time to digest the wealth of material and will no doubt visit again.

Radstock museum is a really well maintained, and superbly curated museum in the mining town of Radstock. Located over two floors there is enough local information here to satisfy the most curious of minds, and with some excellent interactive and physical displays there is plenty to keep the kids entertained.. and informed. Even if you are not local the museum offers a keen insight into the lives of miners and the town in general in a time not so long ago. The museum has an excellent little café and a very well stocked gift shop. TIPS: If you are a BANES resident use your discovery card for a discount on the ticket price and if you keep your receipt/ticket you get another free entry. Great for everyone - this is how a local museum should be.

A gem of a place. Take your time, so many cool things to see and something for everyone.

A lovely place spoiled by bad attitude volunteers who have no idea how to speak to members of the public. If you hold an event for young children expect them to behave like young children. Don't treat them like thoughtless destructive yobs when all they are doing is harmless fun. My children weren't touching or destroying anything. They were just skipping or jumping around. I was hoping to introduce them to a local museum as well as attend an organised event. I thought part of the reason of doing this event was to open up the museum to young people. Clearly not.
