I completed a Day Skipper course with First Class Sailing in September 2020. The company had been highly recommended to me by my theory instructor and it didn't disappoint. The boat was clean, well equipped and in great condition. Our instructor (Jamie) was excellent both in his knowledge, expertise and his ability to teach. There were four students on the boat all with different levels of skills and experience and Jamie tailored his delivery for each of us. I'd not met my fellow crew members before and they turned out to be a fantastic group of people. A Fantastic week, many thanks FCS.

I completed my first course with First Class back in 2013 when I successfully completed my Day Skipper course. More recently I have completed a fantastic weekend boat handling. Great weekend in challenging conditions on the water, I left feeling much more confident, better equipped to handle the yacht and completed complex moves. Really impressed with Instructor - Paul very friendly and knowledgeable. Great service and the fleet looks great. Looking forward to my next sail!

I did a Competent crew course 2 weeks ago and I enjoyed every bit of it. It was very challenging for me as well as very educational, interesting and it was actually fun. 5 days on the yacht learning a lot with other people was an amazing experience. Our instructor Theo was always helping and explaining everything, he also was extremely patient explaining things more than once which was particularly important for me because I've never done any sailing before, even though I felt quite nervous at the beginning, he helped me to believe I can do it. I totally recommend First class sailing!

Watch out: Loss off 1000 Because of Covid-19! We (a four person group) booked a 5-day course for September 2020 that we were unable to attend because of a government rule change and First Class Sailing had us cover the full risk by forcing us to pay 1000 pounds for our missed course, even though we informed them open and honestly as soon as we learned that the country we were staying in was added to the government quarantine list. They showed zero interest in protecting our investment and let us bear the full risk caused by Covid-19. When another 3-person group took the course in our place they forced us to pay the 1000 price difference. As we are understandably disappointed by this and would not want any more dealings with First Class Sailing we asked for a refund of the remaining 1700 which they refuse. Now we are left with a total spend of 2700 with no course but a voucher from an operator which doesn't protect its customers. They even refused to book us in for another course immediately. Be aware, their reassurance for flexibility during times of a global pandemic only protects them, not their customers, and they are not shy of holding their customers to ransom. Update: First Class Sailing has now offered to at least refund the 1700, but only if we pay them an 80 admin fee. So: Total covid cost for us: 1080 Total covid cost for them: 0

I have just completed the Yachtmaster Coastal Skipper Sailing course - 5 long days lots of hands-on sailing and excellent tuition. Tony, our instructor, packed each day with practical exercises and clear explanations of the theory and how to do it in the real world. Tony's personal course notes were better than any RYA book I have read and worth going with him just for those. Highly recommended.
