Ridiculous. Cant believe I have never visited this cinema until now. Fantastic old school time warp building with some really cool features. Sound was fantastic as well. This is our new regular spot, for sure.

My go-to cinema of choice. Cinema experience that hasn’t been diluted by the ‘omniplex experience’ of sky high prices, nachos and recliner seats. Art Deco building, with red velvet seats. Sounds old fashioned but the picture and sound are contemporary. My daughter’s love of cinema is shaped by The Strand.

Long time from its opening film "Bright Eyes", Shirley Temple, in 1935 yet it still retains the original family ambience. The Strand ceased trading as a commercial cinema and Strand Arts Centre was established as a not-for-profit charitable venture to ensure the short-term survival of the building. Without this cinema, most likely another piece of history would have vanished, only to be replaced by a grotesque building that has no community benefit. It's obvious to see that the Strand holds the importance of family in high regard and the staff are keen to reflect that. They additionally customer orientated with excellent service and unquestionable good manners. The Strand demonstrates an affordable cost in line with the local financial status, definitely not like the greedy family facilities in town centre. The layout is pleasant and location handy to bus routes. The Strand has been in place for almost 85yrs and survived the less attractive elements of Belfasts history and with continuing support, will be around for the foreseeable future to keep us all entertained. Pure diamonds in the East.

An east Belfast treasure. A joy to visit and catch a film - interesting and diverse showings, including local productions. Discovered many great musicans, comedians & magicians through workshops and events. Staff are so friendly and accomodating, great prices on treats. I urge movie-goers to choose The Strand over any cinema chain, any day.

The playful art Deco facade gives an distinct impression of the delights found inside this iconic cinema of the area. Not only showing the biggest hyper-realistic blockbusters of the day but also highlights from cinema past - brought back to the full glory of the big screen. The playfulness between new and old goes back even further. To that of the stage, where the centre also boasts a smorgasbord of live performances for all.
