Saint John's Head is a lovely stretch of cliff face along the Northwestern shoreline of Hoy. If you take the Scrabster to Stromness Ferry you pass by it. Even better you can sit in the Galley eating lunch on the M/V Hamnavoe and relax while watching it slip by you just before you round the head to enter into Stromness Mouth. Of course if you need pictures they are better taken on the mid-ship open deck, but get there early as the deck gets filled early. Of course the star feature of the trip is passing by The Old Man of Hoy which is south of St John's Head. The \Old Man\ is a 137 metre tall stack of rock which is a \Bucket List\ item for Rock Climbers from the UK and around the world. I have posted images of that as well. I didn't see any climbers on the Old Man this time, though I have pictures from a few years ago from the cliff Southwest and South with a tiny-tiny man with a red shirt midway up the Stack.
