An outstanding location with truly iconic features... a 14-16 ton standing stone raised on several stone pillars. Which if you take the trouble to investigate properly you will find groves cut out so the pillars were fitted snug upon construction. Also a rather large Cairn is located less than 100 yards away. I believe someone very important was buried here in very ancient times...

A good place to visit if you're a historical buff for both the Arthurian legend and for is actual Neolithic meaning. With good views from the stone, from the road it takes about 3-5 minutes to walk. I had to park in the road as I couldn't see any carpark so be careful.

Went at sunset, great view with a nice breeze. Good place for a evening stroll. There's a bit of parking nearby, but not much so wouldn't guarantee space

Make sure you bring a cardboard sword for the kids to draw from the stone - not one for the historical purists obviously - soft roaders can be parked off the main road. Worth the amble.

Lovely place... great for a free day out with the kids. Arthurs stone is extremely impressive and my daughter loved exploring the area. An added bonus is the wild horses who are beautiful and very friendly.
