The Fringe Festival is the top event celebrated in Scotland during the summer (for three weeks in August). This is festival brings together artists (musicians, comedians, theatre professionals and interpreters) from around the world. This festival has been celebrated since 1947 and nowadays is considered as the largest arts festival event on earth. It is the opportunity for many young artists to introduce themselves to the public and get reputation within the sector. They can try new things and be experimental to the public because the crowd will decide if it is or not successful. My experience going the last year was amazing. It was different, funny, full of energy and lots of laugh. I have never in contact with so many types of art (music, ballet, cabaret, comedia...) as when I was on the Fringe. Furthermore, Edinburgh and Scotland are mystic and fantastic lands full of power. The experience of going is a must. All exhibitions are free of charge and you only need to go there with time in advance to have a seat. I strongly recommend to live The Fringe at least once in your life.

The Meadow Bar seems to have branded itself as the Free Fringe on Google.. But this review is solely bar-related.. The Meadow Bar was for a long time my, and most folk that I know's favourite place to drink. The community spirit here was for so long, the best I'd found in Edinburgh. Even such that people would treck from far and wide to this place and treat it as their local, regardless of where they lived. Plus the amazing food from Zack's kitchen topped the place off completely. The staff were friendly and used to make some of the finest cocktails going. They'd always have chat if you were in the mood or would keep themselves to themselves if it was apparent you weren't in the mood. ..Roll on a few years, a few changes in management and an obscure firing of most of the decent bar staff and this place has gone so far downhill it's probably never going to be the same. Sad to say, but The Meadow Bar is really no more. Good for a pint or two and to chat about old times if you were part of it all - but otherwise it's a bit of an overpriced tip now. Currently undergoing renovations but partially down to a sponsor deal(heineken I think it was) so that's probably not going to be for the best. Meadow Bar, we salute you. And will always miss you :( P.s. Zack still produces the finest burgers in Edinburgh, hands down..
