I went to Providence Project via Veteran’s Aid, initially for 6 weeks, but after only 4, I decided to sign up for the 12 week program. I had no idea what rehab entailed, and found it to be nothing like I’d imagined. Having been detoxed for a week, then moved into a house with fellow peers with similar issues, I found I was laughing and having fun, whilst sober, who knew? The various classes were interesting, the one to one’s with my designated counsellor, the group therapy etc etc were all understandable, and like I said, in some cases fun. There are no ball and chains, no unfair restrictions (only COVID based ones) Honestly, going there was the best thing I have done in my life !!! (Don’t tell the wife ) The staff at all levels were amazing, caring and efficient. Thank you Providence Project.

The providence project has changed my life, it was the best decision I have ever made. When I went in I was physically, mentally and emotionally broken. Addiction to both drinking and gambling had, for many years, completely taken over my life, they were I all I could think about and do. I desperately wanted both to stop but couldn’t do it alone. I was absolutely terrified walking through the door, I didn’t know what was going to be on the other side of it. What I found saved my life. Through the help of the very talented, caring, loving and understanding of the wonderful people that work there, I started to feel alive again. I began to understand the effects my addictions had had on my behaviours. I was starting to feel so many feelings that had been stolen from me through addiction. The level of care I received was off the chart, I was surrounded by many other people, with so much in common and everyone of us were getting better. The Providence project is a place where miracles happen and you find angels at work. Big thanks to Tara, Martha, Steve and Clinton in particular, you set me on the right path and I’ve stayed on it now for almost 5 months now, and that ladies and gentlemen is a miracle right there!! I arrived at the Providence Project not knowing what to expect. I was greeted by the kindest and most understanding people, a warm welcome and a smile. I had struggled with addiction to alcohol and couldn’t see a way out but the amazing people both staff and clients helped me see the way forward. I would like to show my appreciation to all the staff individually but I would have to name everyone ! But particular thanks goes to Clinton and Dougie. I struggled at first but with determination and amazing encouragement I am proud to be almost Seven months into Sobriety which I couldn’t have imagined a year ago. I would like to say to the staff that helped me personally (and gave me the kick up the backside I needed ) thank you from the bottom of my heart Martha, Nicole and Helena to name a few. I can’t stress enough how every member of the team genuinely had my best interests at heart, simply put-Thank you Providence team for giving me my life back xx

My son was in the providence project most of 2019 It was a very tough year for us as a family I have nothing but praise and admiration for all who work at the provi they taught me so much as well as my son I learnt through the family day that it wasn’t my fault my son took the path he did and that I shouldn’t feel guilty but as a parent that’s what you think! My son was in there twice and the second time it was tough for him and we had countless phone calls come and get me but we made him stay it was hard but he did it and he has made some life long friends I never thought as a family we would get our son brother partner to his girlfriend and daddy to his boys back but we do have him back and that is thanks to the provi and all who work there Dougie would phone me weekly to see how I was doing and that meant a lot to me and to know there was some one there I could talk to as well My son is now working and doing really well and although he doesn’t say it often I know he is grateful to us for sending him to the providence project because it did really save him and us as a family They never give up on anyone I would recommend the providence project to anyone who is having addiction problems
