We booked a spa day package and the staff were lovely and very efficient. The spa area was clean and the views were great especially when all the deer appeared! The spa was a bit crowded at the start of our session which would have been ok except one group started to be quite loud. However a staff member appeared and seemed to have a quiet discussion with them and all was well after that. The relaxation area is a lovely place to go! that was the extra nice part of the day. The massages and afternoon tea were very nice and relaxing and overall was a great way to spend our 5th wedding anniversary

I always look forward to visiting the spa. The gym has some good equipment and friendly staff/trainers. The views are stunning. The pool is lovely and heated with the same great view. The jacuzzi is always relaxing. The sauna and steam rooms are a great way to unwind after a good gym session. The food is great but a little pricey.

I booked an 'Afternoon Tea Spa Day' package for my wife's birthday. It was good, but was just lacking that bit of attention to detail. The facilities are great, it's all very clean and the treatments we both had we're excellent. But...with a package like this, you need to know what's included and what's not, the staff need to know what's going on so we are clear. Even offering drinks at the beginning, are they included/or is that upselling? (They were included, but it would've been nice to know.) There was talk of a fruit platter that never materialised? I'm not sure whether that was included or not. The relaxation room was really nice, but you're only allowed in there in your gown and slippers, and no 'wet' swimming costumes, so my wife didn't know this so when it was her turn for her treatment, she couldn't go in there before to start relaxing (as she'd been for a Jacuzzi). And then after you've been in the spa, you basically can't go in there? It got to the time when we had booked our afternoon tea and I had to go and remind the staff that we had this booked with an 'oh have you, this is in an other part of the hotel'. We assumed it would all be in the same place, so we both went and emptied our lockers/handed our keys back and were escorted into the library. Afternoon tea was then another 40 minutes before being served, and to be honest it was pretty average. The sandwiches were bland, there was only one small pot of clotted cream between 4 scones and two pots of jam that were like syrup rather than jam. It's a beautiful setting and great facilities but you can't rely on that, the service needs to be improved. It's like it was missing management/someone in charge everywhere we went. If you're going to charge premium prices, you need to deliver that something a bit extra. All flair but not much substance unfortunately.
