Popped in after searching ‘pubs near me’ on a long journey and not fancying motorway services this was a good shout. Easy parking, friendly staff. A good plant based menu, very reasonable prices and for a Marstons, it’s got a lot of character. Well worth the short detour. Cheers, Adam.

Came here on Sunday 13th September 2020 after attending a charity event in the local area and was greeted at the door by a young gentleman asking for a track & trace code to be scanned upon entry, which was fine and well received. My partner obliged and another member of our group asked if he could scan too as he hadn't before and wanted to understand more about the system in place. That request was greeted with a face of utter disscust from the young gentleman on the door with the clip board and he slapped his clip board down on the bar and said \go on then\ like it was a hassle. The young gentleman told us that as we were a group of 6 we would have to sit outside and we would receive table service, which again was fine. Whilst passing the young gentleman I asked what beer they had on draft? The response i got was a shrug of the shoulders and told to go around the bar to sit outside. A bit baffled and disheartened by his response i asked if they had any Beavertown on draft? The young gentleman sniggered at my question and said o\. Once I got outside with my party after coming from a lovely, successful, fund raising charity event i was in shock at the unwanted welcome we had just received. I told the rest of our group that I didn't want to spend another second in this venue or spend any money in here due to the poor hospitality that was shown on our arrival. We exited straight away through the small gate outside that lead straight back into the car park. As someone who worked in the hospitality industry for many years I was in utter shock at the welcome we had received and couldn't understand why someone with that sort of attitude was allowed to greet guests onto the premises. We headed to another venue not too far away called The Anchor and the welcome was the complete opposite. Warm, friendly & hospitable. I would not recommend visiting The Sycamores nor will I be returning at any point. A warm welcome is a basic & fundamental element of hospitality.

My son took me here for my birthday, lovely venue inside with a garden at the rear and seating outside both in the garden and to the side of the pub. Pleasant staff, good selection of drinks, great food prepared with skill and passion. We had olives on ice, sourdough bread with balsamic vinegar and pesto for starters which were both excellent. The sourdough bread was made at the venue by the head chef and it was lovely. The main of fish, chips and peas was equally as good as the starters, the vinegar gel was just fantastic as an accompaniment to the dish and presentation overall was spot on for me. . No complaints, will definitely return to try more on the menu.
