This is a great pub for one on the main road. Very friendly staff doing their best during covid. 4 real ales on tap and good ones too. Green King IPA the least favourite was one, which begs the question is this a Green King Pub. If so they are getting better.

Staff efficient and friendly. Food excellent and Bonkers Conkers not bad for someone who's used to drinking London Pride. Second visit and will definitely go back again.

The food was excellent. I had the vegan burger and it was really tasty. Also the chips were crispy and very yummy

We have been very impressed since the pandemic how well set up the pub is. A lot of thought has gone into making sure patrons and staff are safe and we now travel out of Basingstoke often to come here. Food and service matches those high standards too.

Excellent pub dining experience - one of our best ever. My wife and I met our son there for Sunday lunch, 24 March 2019. The pub was busy but not heaving. The waitress, Vicki, was pleasantness personified: we explained we were waiting for our son so she showed us to our table and took our drinks order and said it didn't matter that he was a bit late. I started with seared scallops and chorizo on a bed of samphire (which I'd never heard of, but I'll try anything once and am glad I did as it was delicious). My wife had the spinach soup, which she pronounced excellent and she can be picky about soup. My son had the prawn cocktail. All three of us all but licked our plates. My wife and son both chose the roast beef for their mains whilst I had roast turkey. Everything was cooked to perfection. We even had room for puddings, despite the ample portions that had come before. My wife had three scoops of ice cream, my son had the salted caramel sundae, and I had a chocolate and raspberry tart with chocolate ganache and vanilla coconut ice cream. We will definitely be returning; I just wish we lived nearer!

Recently revisited the pub. First off there covid procedures are great and the pub was lovely and clean inside. However the food is terrible, cold, under seasoned and overcooked. Had the seafood medley for main and I felt bad for the seafood. Skin was soft, fish dry and overcooked, it had no flavour.

When our ordered meal arrived, it was found to be cold. After it was returned it was not the meal we ordered. We ordered a trio of meat and when it eventually arrived hot it was only a roast pork meal. Then to be told the turkey had run out earlier, which we were not told this on our original order. However we were offered extra beef when we we're halfway through eating our meal. The staff that served us were very apologetic but at the end of the day, they were not the ones making the decisions. We paid the same price as for the trio, only because we were given the extra beef. Not the meal we were hoping for
