Tregothnan Reviews | Rating 4.3 out of 5 stars (5 reviews)

Tregothnan is located in Truro, United Kingdom on The Woodyard, Tresillian. Tregothnan is rated 4.3 out of 5 in the category florist in United Kingdom. Tregothnan is the home of English tea. In 2005 Tregothnan sold the first-ever tea grown in the UK, the culmination of over two centuries of experimenting with the tea genus with the help of its unique subtropical microclimate. Tregothnan makes a range of black, green and herbal teas. Fresh leaves are plucked from our Cornish plantations by the Estate’s garden team and processed on site using traditional hand-rolling methods. Muslin cloths are used to squeeze out excess moisture and gently bruise the leaves to begin the oxidisation process to turn the leaves black. Tregothnan blends its teas with the finest ingredients sourced from the Estate's own botanical garden, local growers and tenant farmers and carefully selected ‘sister’ plantations across the globe. Becoming a ‘tea master’ takes many years of blending practice to achieve due to the climatic, soil and varietal factors that influence a tea’s taste. Tregothnan has recognised tea masters who were recently invited to lecture on tea at the Global Tea Fair in Shenzen. MD of Tregothnan trading, Jonathon Jones, took a Nuffield Scholarship and travelled the world to research tea before embarking on this British quest to pioneer Britain’s favourite beverage – finally giving the nation’s favourite drink a home on British soil. People are beginning to think of tea with the same reverence as coffee for its many varieties. Rare varieties of Camellia sinensis (tea bush) have been gifted to Tregothnan to cultivate in England, meaning Tregothnan has one of the world’s most comprehensive tea collections. This includes such varieties as the Vietnamese ‘six-pack’ tea – so nicknamed for its likeness to a well-toned abdomen. As well as growing English tea, a diversity of lands also allows us to produce sustainable coppiced charcoal, Manuka honey and Kea plum jam. Seasonal British flowers are sourced from the Tregothnan estate and surrounding lands for our range of hand-tied English bouquets.

Best place to buy Christmas trees anywhere! Hand selected our tree and they cut it down for us. Made choosing a tree a special occasion. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Really bad on-line shopping experience. Ordered a 53 tea gift set, tea and plant, for delivery on the 11/01. Not having received anything, on the 13/01 I have asked if there was any news on it and they replied back the day after saying that it had been delivered on the 13th and providing a tracking number (which I discovered after some time that it was from Royal Mail, because the couldn't be bothered to write it in the 16-words email they sent). Unfortunately, what I got from Royal Mail on the 13th was some mislabeled bag from China with that tracking number attached, and I returned it to the mailman straight away. I have explained to Tregothnan what happened, and that I can't do anything from my side about it, but in 4 days I had no reply, so I don't know even know if they are doing anything. Of course my tea plant would be dead and I have a strong feeling that I have lost my money. Of course shipping errors can happen and this looks like a complete Royal Mail fault, I'm not blaming them at all for this ---but the one star is for the absolutely inadequate customer service, especially in a period like this where people are relying so much to online shopping.

Poor, poor, delivery service Twice I have purchased via on-line and twice now extremely bad service. First time, waited for a gift wrapped box of tea for a week! Second time, paid for 1st class post @3.95 for 4 small pouches of tea and when they had not arrived 1 week later, called. Reply was the labels were not ready for those samples? No call to say ref delay, no e-mail, no nothing. I was told someone would get back to me only to call again but person in charge had gone for the day. Only after posting a message to page at disappointing communication and delivery, was assured they had left that afternoon.......that was a Monday, now Thursday still no package! So I assume paid for 1st class but have sent 2nd and in Cornwall that means 5 days or more as everything is soooo slooow in Cornwall Love your Teas, so much and about to do herbal Teas to sell for my healing group, I will not be buying again, so you have lost a customer, which it appears your not too bothered about. I wonder, will the Teas ever arrive, now 10 days and will I receive the refund? So disappointed

Went for the open day. Stunning building from outside. Not sure if you're ever allowed in? Beautiful gardens. Only takes a couple of hours to walk round. Worth a visit on their Charity Open Days

A bit awesome. Excellent gardens, very tasty tea (costs, though) and we had a lovely tour with the gardener who was a very knowledgeable and passionate man.
