You try to pay via phone. It says enter ref code then hash but half way through entering the code, it asks if the code is correct! So you cant pay as it wont let you enter the full code. You cant pay on the website either, because there is no link to click on for paying a toll. They dont want you to pay on time, so make it dificuilt and then fine you.

What a disgraceful company, 1 day to pay a ticket, 1 second late and they issue you with a 30 fine. All those involved in this scam should be ashamed of themselves.

I’m only gutted that I can’t leave a 0 star review. Thieving company that makes using their service as complex as possible so they can trap customers into fines, which are staggeringly disproportionate and should be illegal. Awful customer service, no reply to emails or phone calls (just an automated machine). I don’t say this lightly but they are the worst company I have ever had dealings with. Do whatever you can to avoid giving these cretins your money.

I’m disgusted by luck of customer services and the application of unpaid toll charge the astronomical fees charge by tt2 are criminal and should be investigated. Complete disgrace shame on them!

30 fine and actually still have to pay the toll fee! 1 day is a ridiculously short time for the massive size of the fine! I use the tunnel every day and never had any complaints. This system should help customers out not rob them for being a couple hours out for a 1.80 payment.

24 hours to pay following transit is a very tight window. When I attempted to pay their website was down, so I appealed. They responded saying they had no known website issues during my payment window. Their twitter page indicates otherwise but apparently that is still not grounds for appeal. Horrendous setup.

Normally a very satisfied customer of the Tyne Tunnel, recently I was very disappointed in TT2 and their recent response to my appeal to an unpaid toll charge notice l received. Having topped up my account with 20 in advance of my journey (though apparently not enough in advance due to their systems' inability to credit an account quickly enough), I then accepted my account had not credited and took the invoice to pay for the toll. Not wanting to have any payment outstanding, I then accessed the website provided to pay the toll immediately, only to find again that the systems of a modern company are not capable of having an immediate payment option, and I was attempting to pay too early (the cheek of me!) after passing through the tunnel and I was unable to. Then making the perfectly innocent mistake of forgetting to pay the toll, I received an unpaid toll charge for in excess of 60, discounted to just over 30 if I paid quickly. I was very upset and distressed to receive this notice having made multiple attempts to pay for my passage. In addition, before the invoice for payment became due, my account was actually in credit with TT2 and they make no effort to check whether a customer's account is actually in credit before issuing a penalty notice. This is something which very much strikes me as solely a money making purpose, particularly when a customer has made every effort to pay the fee. I was also very upset to receive a response to my appeal that almost dismissed all of the above and simply reverted to the 14 day lower payment charge as if some form of goodwill gesture(!!)(something which I have now paid in fear of any further action as a person who never leaves a debt unpaid!). As a regular user of TT2 I am very upset with such disregard for my regular contribution to their income, and feel it important to forewarn customers that they treat their customers so poorly and their appeals process is almost pointless!
