As any resident in the area will tell you if it rains this area feels less like a walkway and more like pond, the pavement looks like there's a small crater forming and the general area needs a spruce up. Good for a run because you go past it fast enough not to notice the issues. But it is a gatehouse to the lovely park.

The Abbey and the gardens are lovely for a short day trip. The gardens are vast with a rose garden and a walk along the river. Good views of the Abbey from different angles. There are some information panels dotted around telling you more about the Abbey and its history. Very pleasant. In normal times, you're also very close to the historic town centre with cafés and pubs serving good food.

A lovely place to visit, it has everything you need for a peaceful day out, beautiful historic church, beautiful gardens with wildfowl swimming and waddling about and it's part of Lea Valley Park.
