West Waddy ADP were engaged by the Ernest Cook Trust to obtain planning consent for a barn conversion on its Boarstall Estate in Buckinghamshire. It was not the easiest of tasks and after consultation, it was agreed to go for a full planning application rather than the route of a class Q Permitted Development as, should it be successful, a more sensitive (and marketable) result would be achieved . West Waddy produced a full Planning Feasibility Assessment which included drawings of the proposed conversion and how it would 'sit' within the site, which was approved. Detailed surveys were then commissioned and undertaken, including a speed survey of the lane onto which the building fronted. This was required following concerns about visibility splays and access issues raised by the Highway Authority, Buckinghamshire Country Council, as the lane was not subject to any speed restriction. In the initial stages the Planning Authority was also nervous of the proposal 'detracting from the agrarian character of the site'. However, the West Waddy team managed the process of preparing and submitting an acceptable planning application with great skill and tenacity which has resulted in a full planning consent for the conversion of the barn into a very attractive 3-bedroomed residence. This is an excellent result for the Trust.
I have used West Waddy for my appeal on my house and they have done a great job on the planning and legal side for me, and I would always use them in the future for new projects.
We have been working on our project with West Waddy (WW) from the initial studies through pre-application and successful application for permission to build. WW have provided and continue to provide architectural, planning and project management services for the works which are now well advanced into construction .
