Recently refurbished by the Slovak Embassy London, the final resting place of Marina Pauliny is now worthy of this inspiring lady. She died Oct 5th 1945 along with many other Czechoslovak women and children who were travelling home to Prague after the war. Look to the right of Marina's grave and you will see her name on the large headstone nearby.

Marína Paulíny or Marína Paulínyová (* March 28, 1897 in Slovenské Pravno, Austria-Hungary – † October 5, 1945, Blackbushe, England) was a Slovak diplomat, interpreter, journalist, nurse and promoter of Slovakia, vice-president of the Czech-Slovak Red Cross. Marina Paulina died in the Elvetham air crash that occurred on 5 October 1945 when a Consolidated Liberator GR.VI aircraft crashed at Elvetham, east of Hartley Wintney in Hampshire. The accident killed all 23 people aboard the aircraft. The five crew consisted of a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, wireless operator and flight engineer. The co-pilot was Warrant Officer Antonín Brož, aged 31, from Hradec Králové in northern Bohemia. The flight engineer was Flight Sergeant Zdeněk Sedlák, aged 33, from Prague, who was the husband of LACW Sedláková who had been booked to travel on the flight but whose seat had been reallocated to another passenger. The 17 official passengers included nine women. Also among the passengers were five children travelling with their mothers. The eldest, Eva Šafranková, was three years old. Jiři Rosenblum and Helena Žaludová were two years old. Twins Ladislav Soběslavský and Marenka Soběslavská were just 18 months old. On the initiative of the then Slovak Ambassador to London, H.E. Mr. Ľubomír Rehák, an initiative was established on the occasion of the 123rd Anniversary of Marina Paulíny's birth to restore her grave site. The entire restoration project, including the import of gravel and soil from her native village Slovenské Pravno was implemented by the Embassy of Slovakia in London.
