Lovely! Feels just the right kind of busy this sunny Saturday morning. Feels like a community but still safe from covid. I'd like there to be a vegan breakfast option though. And the swim sessions could definitely do with being a bit longer Thanks for yet another lovely swim

Allerthorpe has become our favourite day out on hot days over the past couple of years. Being inland, it's usually a couple of degrees warmer than the beach. The admission price for a car allows you to use the two paddling areas, one of which is deep enough for swimming in places, the park and the woodland walks. You could get almost a full day out of that with a young family. As we have a teenager, we tend to rent a paddle board and a couple of kayaks for an hour as well as going in the paddling areas. The lake is pretty deep in the middle and good for swimming if you fall off your paddle board. The staff are very polite and helpful. The last time we went, we forgot our sun cream be and the people at reception lent us some of their own when I asked if I could buy some.

Love swimming in the lake here. Fresh, clean water with stopping points at each boy... Take a bit of finding but great for the occasional swimmer! Cafe provides a huge range of scrummy food and they even have toilets. Great price with plenty for all the family including walks.

This is lovely family place to visit for all ages Whether it's to book in to do watersports on its large circular lake (pedaloes/kayaking and swimming /paddling) or to have a leisurely walk and a picnic. There's a children's playground for the younger ones and picnic benches dotted around the lakeside. The cafe is open for hot and cold snacks. Booking is currently advisable for entry due to covid restrictions. See the website for further details.

Good for water sports ( pre book or you may miss out) and dog walks round the lake. Pocklington not far by car with good restaurants and cafes. Plough pub within walking distance the only drawback you have to walk on the road it is quite a hike.
