Fabulous place, steeped in history, but to cap it all, in beautiful surroundings. English Heritage place so free entry to members otherwise around 6 per adult I believe. Not as much remaining as Riveaulx Abbey, but similar in History. Not sure if you are able to get the guided tours to download to your phone, didn't see it on the EH Website. Well worth a visit, dog friendly too, with beautiful walks around the area too.

Real shame this place is as sparse as it is, it would have been a real sight back in it's heyday! Lovely spot in a valley by the river, it's a great little spot to spend a sunny day. Was very impressed and is definitely worth a visit
Even though most of the priory is long gone, due to the fact it was used to build the local Howsham Hall and other surrounding buildings. Knowledge given to us by the lovely member of staff at the entrance and her brief history of the priory. It's still a wonderful site to visit and amazing to see what the site used to be like. And also has the added benefit of a walking route. Be warned parts of the route can get very muddy.
Tranquil and peaceful setting. Really a pride of York. You could sit down for hours in silence and watch the river or the hills.
beautiful, peaceful ruins situated on the banks of the River Derwent. A great place to bring the kids or dogs to run around
Arrived at this incredible site unfortunately we had forgotten to book in beforehand due to the coronavirus situation but the lovely lady who was on hand on the desk allowed us to take a few photos from the Initial standpoint, unfortunately internet connection in the area is extremely poor! So make sure that you book beforehand, and before the end of october as that's when it closes for the winter months
Beautiful ruins in a lovely setting. Can also serve as start and finish for a nice 8 mile round robin (some parts are quite overgrown though), with options to extend the walk. 4.95 entry price is quite steep to be honest, as the site of the ruins is very small and you can easily get round it all in 10 minutes or so.
Such a beautiful peaceful place views are Amazing
