Looking like an ornate Tudor gatehouse, Castle House was built in 1851, much of the building is made of brick, however it was one of the first buildings to make use of Portland cement for pre-cast concrete. In 1974 it was designated Grade II* listed building status. Inside there are concrete features including the staircase and window frames.
