Really impressed by the effort they had made to make the restaurant 'covid safe'. It still had a lovely cosy feel and a fun atmosphere. Margaritas were also delicious! They deserve to be as busy as they are.

Who the heck goes to Edinburgh for Mexican food? We do. Why? Because it's our favourite cuisine and The Basement absolutely KILLED IT. Not a Mexican in sight but the guac was made to order table-side, the portions were generous but not over the top, and our Margaritas were spot on. If I had one gripe it was simply that extra cheese cost a few pennies but our waiter was on point, friendly and helpful. You could, however, ask for as much salsa as you wanted at no extra charge. The Basement claim to have one of the largest selections of tequila in the UK. I can't verify that claim but they sure had a lot of it locked up in the back.
