Memorial fountain commemorating Sir John de Graeme who died in the Battle of Falkirk in July 1298. The fountain is positioned on the fringe of Victoria Park and dates from 1912. The fountain would benefit from some maintenance to repair the surrounding steps and to restore the writing back to original condition.
Sir John De Graeme While largely forgotten through history was Sir William Wallace's right hand man his loyal advisor and most trusted knight He was also his best Friend Graeme was a big guy for the age in the same ranks as Wallace and Bruce He was also largely respected by Wallace And relied in him to lead the men on hia orders Graems fought at many battles with Wallace But it was at falkirk in july 1298 that wpuld bring his name into the story books Graeme was killed on the fields of falkirk in 1298 in the fray of the battle His body was taken by Wallace to the Faw kirk where it was buried by the priest's there
