Despite an unusual request from them with less than 24 hours notice to reschedule my appointment due to staffing issues, this place far exceeded my expectations - the staff were extremely knowledgeable with my eye exam and patiently answered all my questions about lenses without any pressure to make further purchases. Cleaned and adjusted my existing glasses for free too. Wouldn’t go anywhere else from now on!

Originally booked in for a Monday. Asked to reschedule due to staff absence, which was not a problem. Rebooked for today. Arrived and told I don’t have an appointment. Offered a later appointment with a 10% discount. As I’m staff I explained I’d already have received the discount. Was told nothing more could be done. Asked to speak to the manager, was informed they were on lunch but would call me to discuss further within 30 minutes. Two hours later still no call. Don’t book here, it’s not even M&S, it’s a third party called Owl optical. Bad appointment keeping and incompetent management. I’ll take my business elsewhere!
Under new management and the staff are very professional and friendly with great products
The attendant are so nice. 100% recommended.
My recent eye test was professional and efficient throughout. A printed prescription was provided without any pressure or hard sale which I've often encountered from the big names on the high street. It was most convenient to have an evening appointment and there were some great designer frames available. For the reasons above, I shall be purchasing from them. My review is for M&S Opticians operated by Owl Opticians Ltd. Store: London Colney.
The actual experience was great, timely, professional etc. However, I wanted to buy my distance glasses online and reading glasses from them. I found out afterwards that they won't release the relevant information necessary to purchase glasses online. I would have happily paid a fee for the test had I known. I certainly didn't want something for nothing. I now have to waste time and money going to another opticians to get the information. VERY POOR
I would rate my experience as extremely first class. The young lady Reena who completed my appointment had a very charming and professional manner.
As l haven't yet used the service, l'm giving four stars after the very informative chat l had with one of the optical assistants. She reassured me that frame prices plus lenses are on par with my current optician, particularly the thinner lenses coming in at 90. They have a range of petite frames. These are ones that span only 48 -51 cm across your eyes. Some of us struggle to find fashionable frames with this diameter without resort to the teen section. Incidentally didn't see where that was but assume it exists. Their own designs have very pretty names, seem very robust yet light. It is a well laid out space, easy to navigate even if you have a large pushchair/ wheelchair. They say they can fulfill your prescription from other opticians, as is your right to carry it from one business to another of you don't see any frames you like. They have one optician available for appointments via the website, telephone, or by request in store. On Saturdays there are two. I am considering swapping now because it looks less rushed, the frames are a little different with three colour choices in their own brand range, including sunglasses. See my photos for special deals. Extra bonus is faster turn around for your order. It's 5 working days for single vision lenses and 7- 10 for varifocals.
