This postern gate is all that stands of the castle that stood on the grounds now occupied by the Northampton railway station. Even this is not in its original position, as it was re-assembled here. Just at the side wall to the main stairs to Northampton station from the main street are some photographs of the architectural dig of the site, revealing the Castle foundations.
