I've used Asda Opticians at Owlcotes for a few years now. I've always found the staff to be very helpful polite and friendly. Service is always prompt. The prices are very competitive when compared to my previous Opticians. I had my eyes tested 4 days ago, the test was exactly the same as anywhere else that I've been, I chose my frames, and then had a fitting. I got a text to say my glasses were ready, I was a little alarmed as I was told they might take up to 2 weeks, and the lenses are varifocals. I telephoned them to check and was told that yes, they were ready. I went to pick them up, sat down with a lovely lady who checked they were ok. At no time did I feel pressured or rushed. I was given my prescription in case I wanted to go elsewhere. From test to pick up was 4 days.....amazing.
The service here used to be brilliant and I was actually referred to this optician by the eye clinic, as I require additional tests that aren't offered everywhere. But in the past 12 months, the prices have increased, the service has gone downhill, and the attention to detail seems to have vanished. My most recent eye test here resulted in an incorrect prescription, which I spotted (at no point did the staff spot it) when the glasses arrived. I had to have a second eye test, wait for the glasses a second time, and they refused to give me my PD measurement because they didn't want me to be able to use my prescription to order glasses online from other companies.
I've found the opticians service at Asda at Owlcotes to be excellent. The same high standard of care and staff as any high street opticians, but with far more competitive prices. It hasn't been a year yet since I last had an eye check, so I can't comment on the after care service yet, but any time I've ordered more contact lenses from them, the staff have been helpful and knowledgeable.
Always used spec savers but wanted to try another company to compare the service I was receiving . Specs are good and got them quick , but the staff were the worst I have ever come across , no one would help me choose , and offer advice , when I finally got a young lady to help , I asked her how strong are the titanium frames compared to normal frames , her reply was \ why what are you going to do with them \ then she looked at me as though I had just asked the most stupid question ever , then rushed away to her mate and left me to struggle on . Also the eye test was the quickest I've ever had and very uncaring and cold . I will never be going back . AVOID IF YOUR LIKE ME AND NEED HELP TO CHOOSE YOUR GLASSES
