The remains of the SS Great Eastern’s launch ramp. The ship was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel to carry passengers and cargo between England and Australia. It was launched in 1858. The SS Great Eastern was the largest ship in the world at that time and it was constructed almost entirely of metal. It took 3 attempts attempts to get the ship into the water. There is an old informative panel but you can’t read anything.

Pretty nice place to chill out, nice place to think about how they pulled out the boats, and for the young ones a really good hide and seek just watch out and try and find some good spot.

Fabulous piece of history. If you are walking on the north side of the Thames make sure to have a look.

This side of the river faces opposite Greenwich it is amazing at night and great for river side walks. Definitely recommend, also the river bus port is easy to access.

Nice piece of marine history by a pretty Thames walk. The information board needs to be changed though as it's fully worn out.
