This statue stands in tribute to William Henry Playfair, a 19th century Scottish architects, who designed the eastern part of the New Town and many of Edinburgh's neoclassical landmarks such as City Observatory on Calton Hill, the Royal Scottish Academy Building and the National Monument etc. The statue depicts William Henry Playfair dressed as a gentleman of the 19th century. The statue has William Henry Playfair standing in portrait pose, his left hand resting on a table and in his right, he holds a stack of papers, perhaps his next architectural masterplan.

my first time in Edinburgh we were having a look around and came across William Henry Playfair Monument I took some photos of this and 1 of a mascot we have in front of the lovely statue max as his own group on Facebook called travel with Max I like taking photos of him next to things in places we have been and would like to revisit I hope some time soon we will be back in Edinburgh and I would revisit this Statue so if your having a look around put this on your list of a thing to see
