We weren't aware until we arrived that there was a sculpture and light show on in the evenings, which you could pay separately for and enjoy in the darkness. However, what we saw walking around the gardens in the afternoon was a pleasant surprise and amazing. Some of the lights came on while we were there. There were other sculptures, such as a fire breathing dragon which wasn't lit when we were there but would have been fantastic to see. We had a lovely afternoon walking around especially as we didn't know Tier 4 was on the horizon.

Lovely snowdrops at this time of year. 4 mile walk around gardens. 95% of paths well made up and easily accessible. Few gentle slopes. Great way to spend 3 hours. Booking easy. Covid secure.

Lovely to see the house open again, the rooms are richly decored with the Spanish room my particular favourite with it's Venetian Palazzo ceiling. The Kitchen Garden is currently closed, but the Japanese Garden is starting to show great Autumnal colors. There is a picnic area with well spaced tables before you get to the House, but also large lawn space at the back of the house where you can put down a rug and have a picnic. Tickets for the House are popular so best to go early, but there were additional slots available at 2.30pm on a first come basis. The stable caffe has outside seating and serves sandwiches, jacket potatoes, snacks and drinks. The grounds are extensive, 16000 acres, if you want a longer walk you can follow the Woodland trail circuit around 3 miles.

We went for Ignite At Kington Lacy. We had a wonderful time. Great set up, the people working were very friendly and helpful. It's quite pricey but we thought it was worth it. It took us pretty much an hour to walk the whole trail. They do have hot drinks and food stalls at the beginning and a cafe at the end but due to not wanting to miss little ones bed time we did get any snacks. My boots did get a tiny bit muddy but it wasn't to mad.
